Brian Wong, World Stage Racing Suffer Tough Finish to a Strong Day in Sonoma

DSC06347SONOMA, Calif. (June 29, 2016)- After making several passes throughout the first half of the Chevy’s FreshMex 200, the most recent round of the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West at the famed Sonoma Raceway, World Stage Racing’s Brian Wong would suffer a premature end after contact with a competitor sent his car hard in to the Turn Nine barrier.

“It’s a really tough way to end after such a strong run,” stated Wong. “As soon as the race began, it was clear we had the pace to really contend, and we had a very specific, measured gameplan to look after the car throughout the first half. I think we really could have had something for everyone at the end, so it was really frustrating to see things turn like that. I really appreciate what everyone at Ranier Racing with MDM did to help guide us through the weekend, and obviously we really wanted to show well for all of our friends at Northwestern University and IDT.”

Taking place during the same weekend as the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series at the famed San Francisco bay area venue, the 26-year old came in to the weekend with strong hopes to deliver in front of such a large crowd. Having earned a reputation as being a specialist on road courses, and looking to generate some attention as one of very few Asian Americans represented at the track, all focus was on Saturday’s race.

World Stage Racing / Brian Wong Return to NASCAR Competition at Sonoma

IMG 2752NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. (June 22, 2016)- Returning to NASCAR competition for the first time in nearly 10 months, World Stage Racing’s Brian Wong will once again continue his reputation as “road racing specialist,” competing at this weekend’s K&N Pro Series West in conjunction with the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. Sharing the same weekend with the biggest names in NASCAR, both driver and team will continue their focus on digitally focused platforms by partnering with Integrated Device Technology (IDT), a 36-year-old Silicon Valley semiconductor company that develops a wide range of products. IDT currently holds the Silicon Valley hub for Northeastern University, which Brian Wong is closely affiliated with.

“Competing at Sonoma alongside the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series is another amazing opportunity,” stated Brian Wong. “Any event in California is considered a home race for us, and it will be good to not be the lone Asian face in the crowd. I just hope the reporters can tell us apart. Regardless, everyone at World Stage Racing and Ranier Racing with MDM have been working very hard to put this program together, and it’s great to see it all happen. We have a great partner in IDT along with us, as well as some of our long-time partners such as GT Channel and more. It’s a very competitive field out there this weekend, but it’s a track we know well and it’s an excellent team, so we all feel very prepared.”

World Stage Racing, Brian Wong to Return to NASCAR Competition

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. (June 8, 2016)- Continuing the team’s involvement in a variety of motorsport disciplines, World Stage Racing is proud to announce their return to NASCAR competition at the upcoming Sonoma round on June 24-25, 2016. As part of the highly attended NASCAR Sprint Cup Series weekend, sharing the event with NASCAR stars such as Dale Earnhardt, Jr., Kyle Busch, and Jimmie Johnson, the team will take to the track in the lead-up K&N Pro Series round.

“It’s awesome to return to NASCAR-sanctioned competition,” stated World Stage Racing driver Brian Wong. “It’s been almost a year since we took to the track in any type of stock car, but returning in equipment we’re familiar with and a track I’ve visited before, we should be able to hit the ground running. It’s a great opportunity to be in front of a huge crowd, and given our program, I think we’ll be able to deliver strong for all of our partners in attendance.”

No stranger to this type of competition, Brian Wong will take to the event as somewhat of a veteran of road racing. While NASCAR-style racing traditionally competes on oval circuits, the famed Sonoma Raceway is one of a few road courses that the series takes to every year. Being a specialist, Wong’s most recent NASCAR event was in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series round at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, the lone road course of the series. Previously, he has also taken podium finishes in the ARCA Racing Series at the New Jersey Motorsport Park road course, not to mention countless results in a number of sportscar disciplines, including being the first Chinese-American driver to take a podium in the former American Le Mans Series.

Wong, WSR Continue in Lamborghini Super Trofeo at Road Atlanta

INBOX13516BRASELTON, Georgia (September 30, 2015)- Continuing his efforts to drive in a variety of machinery around the country, World Stage Racing’s Brian Wong will once again take the wheel in the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo North America as a supporting event to this weekend’s Petit Le Mans at the famed Road Atlanta. Returning to O’Gara Motorsport in the No. 69 Lamborghini Huracán LP 620-2, the 26-year old is in search of continued podium results.

“Anytime you can be part of an event like this you can’t help but be thankful,” stated Brian Wong. “Road Atlanta is one of the most unique and impressive tracks in the country, and there is simply no better weekend to be here than during Petit Le Mans. I have some great memories here over the years, and really hoping to add to that this week. The team at O’Gara Motorsport has done a great job getting the car ready, and my teammate Tom continues to progress during every weekend. There is some stiff competition here so you never know what can happen, but we’re definitely looking forward to it.”
