LOS ANGELES, CA (April 1, 2012)- Following a hard-earned second place during last month’s prestigious Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring, Brian Wong will return to The American Le Mans Series for the series’ second round, The Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach.
Wong, who resides just a few miles down from the circuit in nearby Newport Beach, will race for the second time at the venerable street circuit.
Sebring, Fl (March 17, 2013) – Following a fairly trouble-free run during yesterday’s 61st Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring, Brian Wong has added to his tally of American Le Mans Series (ALMS) trophies by taking a well-earned second place.
Driving for the prestigious Flying Lizard Motorsports organization, Wong, the first ever Chinese-American to earn a podium in ALMS competition, joined the no. 45 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup as part of one of the more formidable three-driver lineups in the GT-Challenge (GTC) category. Joined by teammates Spencer Pumpelly, a multi-time winner in the class, and Nelson Canache, the most recent winner of The Rolex 24 at Daytona, the trio came in to the race with high hopes. With Pumpelly qualifying the car in fourth, the team knew that smart strategy combined with mistake-free runs would be the key to a successful 12-hour race.
Sebring, Fl (March 15, 2013) - Following teammate Spencer Pumpelly’s strong drive to grid fourth for tomorrow’s 61st Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring, Brian Wong will join the prolific Flying Lizard Motorsports organization with his strongest chance yet of victory.
Wong, from Newport Beach, California, will be running in his first race with the team. The winner of two ALMS GT Team Championships, three Driver’s Championships, and over a decade of experience, Flying Lizard is providing Wong’s best chance to date to become the first ever Asian-American to win in the series. Teaming with drivers’ Pumpelly, a two-time winner at The Rolex 24 at Daytona, and Nelson Canache, who recently took his maiden victory at Daytona as well, Wong has high aspirations for tomorrow’s event.
