Brian Wong, World Stage Racing Enter Red Bull Global Rallycross Competition

Heinricher Car GRC Media DaySANTA ANA, Calif. (Jul 22, 2015)- Continuing a diverse 2015 season that has seen him drive everything from grassroots stock cars to exotic GT cars, Californian Brian Wong has entered the latest chapter of his motorsport exploits, Red Bull Global Rallycross competition.

“The Red Bull Global Rallycross has opened a whole new gateway for racing, and I couldn’t be more excited to have some fun out there,” stated Wong. “GRC has done an excellent job engaging fans and creating an all-around platform that really resonates with the viewers. The bottom line is… it’s a fun series, which is refreshing. Coming from road racing and stock cars, I’m hoping to adapt quickly. I’m really jumping in at the deep end on this one, but I’m sure it will be a great experience. Thanks to everyone at Rhys Millen Racing for the opportunity.”

Driving for the storied Rhys Millen Racing, the 26-year-old will enter this weekend’s event in Belle Isle, Detroit having never driven in any type of rally racing. Competing in the spec-built Lites category, Wong will take to the wheel in his No. 89 driving on pavement, dirt, jumps… and with literally zero testing or prior experience.

World Stage Racing’s Brian Wong Impresses in Watkins Glen Round of Super Trofeo Series

bwongwatkins1WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. (July 3, 2015) – Following a two-month break since the most recent round of the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Series North America, World Stage Racing’s Brian Wong would impress yet again with a fourth-place finish during this past weekend’s event at the famed Watkins Glen International.

“Anytime you can get behind the wheel of a race car it’s a good weekend,” stated Wong. “The new Huracán is an amazing car to drive, and I couldn’t be more appreciative of everyone at World Stage Racing and O’Gara Motorsport for the opportunity. We had high hopes for a podium, but given the circumstances a fourth is still something to be satisfied with. We still have a number of events lined up for the summer, and hopefully this is just the beginning”

Driving in the Pro-Am category, the Newport Beach native would be teamed with O’Gara Motorsport team principal Tom O’Gara. A relative newcomer to the sport, O’Gara is now in his third season of competition, with Wong taking on the senior duties for the No. 14 Lamborghini Huracán LP620-2.

World Stage Racing’s Brian Wong Returns to Lamborghini Super Trofeo Series at Watkins Glen

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. (June 25, 2015)-Following strong pace and demonstrable potential at the season-opening rounds of the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo North America, World Stage Racing’s Brian Wong will return to this weekend’s doubleheader at the world famous Watkins Glen International.

“It’s great to be back in the series, the car is absolutely phenomenal to drive,” stated Wong. “At Laguna Seca we were just getting up to speed, but I learned a lot and feel all the better prepared headed into this weekend’s race. Watkins Glen is such a special track, super fast and with long, flowing corners. I haven’t run here since a K&N East race in 2009 on the “short course,” so a high-horsepower GT car should be a great contrast and an excellent training ground should I look to run anymore events at the circuit later on in the year.”

Driving the No. 14 Lamborghini Huracán LP 620-2 Super Trofeo, World Stage and Wong will once again reunite with O’Gara Motorsports to service the effort. Competing in the Pro-Am category, the multi-time ALMS podium finisher will campaign solo in the event with an aim at adding to his podium tally.

World Stage Racing’s Brian Wong Endures Difficult Weekend in New Jersey

image2-1MILLVILLE, New Jersey (May 27, 2015)- Headed in to Sunday’s ARCA 150 presented by Unique Pretzels, World Stage Racing’s Brian Wong was hoping that the strength found in his previous runner-up finish in the ARCA Racing Series’ annual visit to New Jersey Motorsports Park would repeat itself. Unfortunately, an endless series of electrical issues with the Series’ mandated spec motor would hamper Wong throughout the weekend, ultimately ending his race early with a 20th place finish. The one highlight to the weekend would be Brian’s fifth place qualifying effort, despite a fading engine.

“It’s frustrating for sure,” stated the Newport Beach native. “We came in to the weekend knowing we had a real shot, but we just never got ahead of the problems this weekend. It’s frustrating because there’s nothing that anyone on the team could do as the issues were decided by the Series and out of the team’s control, but I guess that’s racing and we’ll just take the disappointment and move on.”

Driving for the storied Venturini Motorsports, the same team for which he’s driven the previous two years at this event, the team’s woes began at the beginning of the weekend. With the No. 55 Nuts.com / Nitty Toyota suffering engine gremlins before he could ever turn a lap, Wong, the first Chinese-American to take a podium in ARCA competition, was only able to get on track during the second practice session. Knowing how valuable track time would be, Brian made the most of it to still end the day fifth on the charts.

(May 19, 2015)- Less than one year after World Stage Racing’s Brian Wong made an impressive drive to a second-place finish during the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards event at New Jersey Motorsports Park, the 26-year old will return with Venturini Motorsports in search of victory during this weekend’s ARCA 150 presented by Unique Pretzels.

“This will be my third year at New Jersey and I think we’re as ready as we’ll ever be,” stated the 26-year-old. “Every year we’ve improved, and now that I’m in my third year with the folks at Venturini Motorsports, I feel very comfortable headed into the weekend. It’s a great event, and it’s great to be back in a stock car. I can’t thank everyone at Nuts.com, Nitty, and World Stage Racing enough for their support in getting us here.”
