Brian Wong, World Stage Racing Survive Wild NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Debut

lat-lepage 150830-mos-3948BOWMANVILLE, Ontario, Canada (September 1, 2015) – Following a race that included everything from passing several machines to multiple moments of contact to a hard fight to the finish, World Stage Racing’s Brian Wong took an impressive 12th place finish in his NASCAR Camping World Truck Series debut during Sunday Chevrolet Silverado 250 at the famed Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.

“This was definitely a crazy race,” stated Wong. “We basically experienced everything you could experience in one run. We went down a lap, fought to get it back, made contact with several people, and then it all came down to a green-white-checker. It was a lot of fun and I’m grateful for the opportunity to have had the chance. Everyone at Venturini Motorsports ran a great program, and I appreciate what everyone at World Stage Racing did to make this come together. Hopefully all of our partners had a great time, it was great having companies like Momofuku, GT Channel, Nitty and Purist on board.”

Starting from the 10th row in the No. 25 Momofuku / GT Channel / Nitty / Purist Toyota Tundra, Wong, who had never competed in the series before, knew that patience would be key during the opening laps of the sixty-two scheduled. Making a solid start, the 26-year-old held his own when the green flag fell keeping himself in line with the top twenty and trying to avoid major calamity during his opening stint.

Brian Wong to Debut in NASCAR Camping World Truck Series This Weekend

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. (August 26, 2015)- Highlighting a busy summer of racing for the Californian, Brian Wong and World Stage Racing are pleased to announce their entry in to the next phase of the program’s development, the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. Partnering with the renowned Venturini Motorsports, the program will debut at this weekend’s Chevrolet Silverado 250 at the famed Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in Bowmanville, Canada. Continuing the team’s ethos of exploring new avenues for marketing and engagement, the team’s Toyota Tundra will also debut a new partnership with Momofuku.

“Words cannot express my excitement for this weekend,” stated Wong. “This is by far the most high profile event in my stock car career, and to say I’m looking forward to it would be an understatement. The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series offers some of the best racing in the world, and driving a vehicle like that at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, where you really have to be on your toes the whole time, should make for a very challenging weekend. Having Momofuku on board only makes it that much sweeter. Anyone who is familiar with their restaurants knows why it’s a huge honor to represent them this weekend. The quality of their dining experience, combined with their unique approach to customer engagement, lines up perfectly with our brand. Combined with our other partners at GT Channel, Purist and Nitty, we’re really hoping to show well for everyone.”

Continuing World Stage Racing’s tradition of engaging unique brands and non-traditional forms of partnership, the team’s alignment with Momofuku provides a perfect symbol of the effort. Established by chef and founder David Chang in 2004 with the opening of Momofuku Noodle Bar, Momofuku has grown to include restaurants in New York City, Sydney and Toronto. Momofuku has a total of nine restaurants (Noodle Bar, Ssäm Bar, Ko, Má Pêche, Seiōbo, Noodle Bar Toronto, Daishō, Shōtō, Fuku), a sister bakery with multiple locations throughout New York City and in Toronto (Milk Bar), two bars (Booker and Dax, Nikai), and a Culinary Lab.

Damage Issues Cut Short VIR Weekend for Wong, WSR

INBOX13516ALTON, Virginia (August 24, 2015)- Despite setting several quick laps including a second-place qualifying effort, Brian Wong and World Stage Racing would have their Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo North America weekend cut short due to an incident during Saturday’s Race Two. With extensive damage to several components of the car, the O’Gara Motosport team would elect to sit the rest of the weekend out due to a variety of concerns.

“It’s difficult because we were really hoping this could be a good weekend for us, but that’s just how it can go,” stated Wong. “Tom and everyone at O’Gara Motorsport work really hard to keep our car prepared and ready, and sometimes incidents happen. Tom was driving really well and setting some quick times, it’s a rough track and he was doing extremely well. Hopefully we’ve got all of our bad luck behind us for the year.”

Driving the No. 69 GT Channel Lamborghini Huracán LP 620-2, hope was high headed into the weekend. Driving at the scenic VIRginia International Raceway located in Southern Virginia, the long straights and fast corners provide a unique challenge, with the high down force and power of the Lamborghini providing for a very fast lap at the circuit. Driving in the Pro-Am category, Wong would be teamed with O’Gara Motorsport team owner Tom O’Gara.

Brian Wong, World Stage Racing Return to Action in Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America

bwongwatkins1NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. (August 19, 2015)- Following a near two-month break in action for the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo North America, World Stage Racing’s Brian Wong will return to action during this weekend’s triple-header at the scenic VIRginia International Raceway. Following mixed results in the first two outings in the series, Wong will once again return to the upstart O’Gara Motorsport sharing with teammate Tom O’Gara.

“This series is always a lot of fun, I’m grateful to be back,” stated Brian Wong. “The Lamborghini Huracán is an absolutely amazing car to drive, so any chance for us to return is a welcome one. Tom O’Gara and his team always put on a great display and hopefully we can turn that into results this weekend. Sharing the car with Tom and having the opportunity to watch him elevate his driving is always a rewarding feeling, and with three races this weekend we’ll have plenty of opportunities to prove ourselves.”

Driving the No. 69 Lamborghini Huracán LP 620-2, Wong will once again return with the support of World Stage Racing who will use this event as a proving ground for some upcoming announcements. Due to the weather cancellation of the most recent race at Watkins Glen International, this weekend will actually hold three races with Race One and Two occurring on Saturday, and Race Three on Sunday.

Engine Woes Curtail Strong Drive from Brian Wong at Watkins Glen

MG 3185WATKINS GLEN, NY (August 12, 2015) – Returning after a near two-year absence from the NASCAR owned K&N Pro Series East, World Stage Racing’s Brian Wong was unable to demonstrate his abilities during Friday’s star-filled round due to engine issues.

“It’s disappointing because I think we had a real shot at a top ten or possibly even a top five,” stated Wong. “Regardless, it was great to get back to action in a stock car, and I’m very thankful to everyone for giving me the opportunity. We had a really cool opportunity with GT Channel to bring something a little different to the sport, and I’m very happy to have been a part of it.”

Driving the No. 40 machine from MDM Hillman racing, a well-known NASCAR team with efforts in both the premier Sprint Cup Series as well as K&N Pro Series, Wong came into the day during what has been a busy summer for the 26-year-old. Driving everything from Lamborghini’s in June to most recently a Global Rallycross machine just two weeks ago, the Chinese American has been gaining valuable seat time in anticipation of a stock car focus over the next few weeks.
