NORTHAMPTONSHIRE, UK (July 15, 2013) - Competing in his very first race in the Maserati Trofeo World Series, World Stage Racing’s Brian Wong took a surprise victory during yesterday’s sprint event at the world-renowned Silverstone Circuit.
“What a great event,” stated Wong. “We weren’t sure what to expect when we came in this weekend, but it turned out to be a great couple of days for all of us. Guido Bonfiglio and the entire Swiss Team put together a great car, and I’m really happy to deliver a victory for them as well as my teammate Mauro.”
As a one-make series featuring the prolific Maserati Granturismo MC, Wong, hailing from Newport Beach, California, came into the weekend for just a one-off opportunity to drive for the team. Having never driven on the circuit located in Northamptonshire, England, and with limited track time before today’s racing, the need to acclimate quickly would come at a premium.

It all came about from my most recent race at the Nürburgring in Germany with the International GT Open where I was lucky enough to meet everyone at Swiss Team. Silverstone has so much history, and now in a Maserati…I can’t wait to drive it.”

The full circuit, the Nordschleife, is so big that even when you’re 10 minutes from the paddock, track you’re still right next to the racing. This is one of those historic places that every driver wants to visit, and I really enjoyed the experience.”
