Brian Wong, World Stage Racing Return to Action in Lamborghini Super Trofeo Series North America

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. (April 29, 2015)- Following an absence from on-track competition in recent months, World Stage Racing’s Brian Wong will once again return to the track during this weekend’s Continental Tire Monterey Grand Prix at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. Marking his return to the IMSA paddock, the 26-year-old will take part in this weekend’s opening rounds of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Series North America with the recently revamped O’Gara Motorsports.

“It’s great to be back in action,” stated the Newport Beach native. “I was fortunate to get my first taste of the new Huracán a few weeks ago and I was instantly impressed. The car is incredibly well balanced, fun to drive… and fast. It’s been a while since I’ve been in a proper sportscar race, so it’s a great opportunity to return. Thanks to everyone at World Stage Racing and O’Gara Motorsports for having the faith in me to join.”

Driving the No. 14 Lamborghini Huracán LP 620-2 Super Trofeo, Wong and the entire series will be part of a rebirth for the championship. With the one-make series previously showcasing the Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4, the move to the all-new Huracán is expected to dramatically increase competition and lap times. As part of the IMSA TUDOR United Sports Car Championship weekend, Wong, the first Chinese-American to ever podium in the former American Le Mans Series will be right at home with O’Gara Motorsports.

Owned and operated by Tom O’Gara, the 2013 series champion in the series’ sportsman category, O’Gara Motorsports has undergone a recent transformation since the season ended last year. Taking their efforts completely in-house, the Beverly Hills based team will be part of a five-car effort set at gaining a spot on the podium.

“The team has been very impressive so far,” continued Wong. “They’ve spared no expense and it shows, I was really taken aback at the scale and scope of their effort when I showed up for our first test together. They’re bringing a level of crew and engineering that is unheard of at this level of motorsport, and hopefully it pays off.”

Continuing his partnership with World Stage Racing, a motorsport organization committed to bridging the gap between Chinese and American businesses, as well as engaging a “new America” that is as diverse as it is digitally engaged, Wong will continue in his pioneering role. Most recently World Stage Racing has begun a partnership with Nitty, a smartphone app dedicated to talk, meet, buy and sell with people who share the same interests and passion as you.

Practice will begin this Friday, May 1, with the first of two races taking place the next day at 9:40AM PST. Race Two will take place on Sunday, May 3, at 10:15AM. World Stage Racing will provide continuous updates via their Facebook and Twitter feeds.
